At the opening ceremony of the annual assembly of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society held at BEXCO, Busan, on Monday (June 16), Prime Minister Han expressed regret over the recent disasters that have taken place in the Asian region, including the earthquake in China and cyclone in Myanmar.
Han also added his hope that the members of the geosciences society can help find the causes behind and minimize the damage of such disasters through close cooperation among researchers worldwide.
For this year's assembly of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society, up to 2,000 scientists and working groups from 66 countries are attending the five-day assembly, the largest number since 2003, to present their research findings and have intellectual exchange, especially with the Korean geosciences community.
