SEOUL, Oct. 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's prime minister met with his Mongolian counterpart in Seoul on Wednesday and agreed to boost cooperation in developing Mongolia's energy and mineral resources, officials here said.
Resource-poor South Korea has been hoping to set up a joint mine development plan with Mongolia, as domestic companies are highly interested in bituminous coal and uranium ore development in Tavan Tolgoi, located in the southern part of the Gobi Desert.
South Korea has been one of Mongolia's biggest investors and its fifth-largest trading partner since their diplomatic ties were established in 1990.
