Han will attend the opening ceremony for the Hannover expo, Sunday, along with Germany's Federal President Horst Kohler and Chancellor Angela Merkel. About 210 Korean firms will participate in the fair, which will continue through April 24.
"Han will engage in active diplomacy in Germany to help Korean firms find new business opportunities in Europe," the Office of the Prime Minister said in a press release. "Han will meet with Kohler and Merkel to discuss a range of issues, including the planned free trade deal between Korea and the European Union, the economic cooperation between Korea and Germany and the global economic crisis."
On Monday, Han will fly to the Czech Republic to meet with President Vaclav Klaus and Prime Minister Miroslav Topolanek.
The agenda for Han's meeting with the Czech leaders will include ways to boost bilateral economic ties and the Korea-EU FTA. Han will ask them for full cooperation to complete the trade deal in the first half of this year. The Czech Republic is the chair of the EU until the end of June.
The prime minister will also make a two-day visit to Slovakia Wednesday to meet with President Ivan Gasparovic. They will discuss ways to increase trade and investment between Korea and Slovakia.
The last stop of his European trip is the Netherlands, the biggest investor in Korea among all EU countries.
Upon arrival in Amsterdam on April 23, Han will meet with Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende to discuss ways to strengthen Korea-Dutch cooperation in energy development and in the global fight against climate change, Han's office said.
